Qualifying Experience: Must have working knowledge of animal and kennel care. Must be able to accurately identify various dog and cat breeds and understand their appropriate handling, behavior traits, and care requirements. Must be capable of recognizing early signs of illness, stress, or injury, assessing potential health risks, and initiating appropriate care or procedural adjustments. Must have administrative experience working with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office Software, including the ability to develop and maintain Excel spreadsheets Must possess skills in communicating with customers and dealing with the public. One year working at the 52 FSS Pet Lodge is desirable, but not required.

Position Overview

About the position: This position is located at the Saber Pet Lodge, Spangdahlem AB, Germany This is a flexible position (0-40 hours per week). Work schedule is Monday through Friday, including occasional weekends and holidays. Must be capable of lifting and carrying objects weighing up to, and occasionally exceeding, 50 pounds. This is a drug testing position. Military Spouse Preference is not lost is selected for this position.

Duties

  • The Primary Purpose of this position is to assist the manager in running the private animal care facility. The Primary Duties of this position include, but are not limited to: Assists the manager with maintaining supply and resale inventories; places orders for needed items through local and stateside vendors. Ensures internal controls are present to minimize the potential for fraud, waste, and abuse. Supervises and trains staff on animal health and handling; ensuring all training requirements are met. Monitors and maintains information for finances and customer usage, reporting to squadron, base and MAJCOM levels. Responsible for daily office work, petty cash disbursements and payroll. Monitors the health and well-being of the animals entrusted to facility; informs owner(s) of changes in health including illness and death. Works closely with base and local veterinarians to ensure health and sanitation standards are met and practiced by all employees. Performs other related duties as assigned.
