Position Overview
This position is located at the Fitness Branch, Sports section, of the Fleet Readiness Department, US Naval Air Station Sigonella, Italy.Incumbent performs a variety of duties in support of the Sports programs.
Duties
Performs a variety of duties in support of the Sports programs, including but not limited to:
- Greets patrons in person, answers the telephone, takes messages, handles customer requests or makes referrals to the appropriate staff member.
- Provides necessary services and information to authorized patrons, including general information and support of recreation and fitness programs.
- Ensures adherence to regulations, safety and security procedures.
- Assists in maintaining routine reports, and/or performs clerical, custodial and/or general maintenance duties.
- Performs numerous functions in support of recreation and fitness program delivery to include inventory control, equipment inspection, restocking, point of sale system operation and cash handling.
- Operates a cash register, Point of Sale (POS) system, processes transactions including equipment loan, rentals, resale, and program registration; receives payments and makes change.
- Provides support for recreation events set up and break down.
Qualifications & Requirements
Qualification Requirements: Three (3) months of general experience OR high school diploma (or GED/equivalent).General experience is (1) any type of work that demonstrates the applicant's ability to perform the work of the position.

- Must satisfactorily complete a background investigation.
- Work is performed both indoors and outdoors and schedule is subject to change and may include working evenings, weekends, holidays.
- Military personnel, if selected, must provide PCS Orders to Sigonella and written authorization from their command to work during off-duty hours.
- Civilian candidates must be in possession of No-Fee government passport, Italian mission visa, Sponsor's Orders or Command-sponsorship authorization, and Sojourner's permit or application letter.
- Male candidates born after December 31, 1959, and at least 18 years of age, are required to certify that they have registered with the Selective Service System (Attach proof of registration).
- Will be required to obtain Emergency First Responder or CPR/First Aid/AED certification, Customer Service Training and Alcohol Safety Certification within the first 90 days of employment.
- Work may require sitting, walking, long long periods of standing, bending and lifting of moderately heavy items up to 40 pounds without assistance and occasional lifting heavier items with assistance. Work is performed indoors and outdoors.
