Position Overview

You will serve as a Maintenance Worker. Join the Klamath Basin Area Office as a Dam Operator responsible for the operation of multiple Dams within the Klamath Project, located in Southern Oregon and Northern California. You may be required to work on-call, evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime and shift work. First time hires to the Federal government normally start at the step 1 rate.

Duties

• Some of the major duties you will perform include but are not limited to the following: Observes and reckons with related operational factors, such as maintaining prescribed water levels in reservoirs, conveyance capacities, and changes in diverter's pumping operations. Makes irrigation water deliveries to private lands from canal turnouts, water releases into water areas under Fish and Wildlife control, and from wildlife regulating ponds into Project leased lands. Repairs, paints and replaces water control gates and pipes. Maintains and repairs irrigation equipment and facilities, including pumps, valves, discharge gates, turnouts, pipes, fittings). Operates and services farm and construction-type equipment, such as rubber-tired backhoe, motor grader, crawler tractor, farm tractor, hydraulic excavation, front end loader, forklift, boat, power mowers, asphalt pots, small cement mixer, motor vehicles and trucks weighing no more than 26,000 pounds. Performs janitorial and groundskeeping tasks (e.g., mowing, watering, trash removal), fuels and services vehicles, and removes snow and ice from Project office access and parking areas. Repairs, paints and replaces water control gates and pipes. Maintains and repairs irrigation equipment and facilities, including pumps, valves, discharge gates, turnouts, pipes, fittings).
