Position Overview
About the Position: This position is located at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth in Portsmouth, Virginia within the Directorate of Mental Health Substance Abuse. This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
Duties
- As Unit receptionist, greet patients, provide instructions to patients on test preparation, and procedural requirements; arrange appointments; and gather preliminary information for medical records.
- Conduct records management procedures to assemble patients’ charts, record providers’ orders, enter and retrieve x-rays, laboratory reports and patient data.
- Use automated and/or manual records system to extract medical information, generate follow-up and/or aftercare instructions, inpatient admissions and discharge and/or transfer information.
- Prepare reports based on the requirements specified by supervisor or standard procedures, and the intended use of the data or report to respond to data calls.
