To qualify for GS-12, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level: Transporting and shipping domestically and internationally per shipping regulations and policies for hazardous materials; Coordinating the transportation of personnel, equipment, and materials; and Arranging and sizing multiple vehicle types for transportation activities. Position Overview

You will serve as a Transportation Specialist coordinating the movement of people, materials, and equipment for the Transportation and Logistics Engineering Office located at Marshall Space Flight Center.

Duties

• Provides technical assistance to Center customers and higher-grade employees related to transportation program activities.
• Prepares government reports to track transportation metrics.
• Plans, develops, and implements procedures for transportation services at a NASA Center such as moving and freight services.
• Uses a wide range of methods and procedures to collect data and prepare a variety of program documents, reports, and correspondences for transportation programs or projects.
• Carries out studies and analyses related to the Transportation Program in order to prepare draft proposals and recommendations.
• Participates in the development of policy and/or procedures relating to NASA transportation programs or projects.
• Analyzes techniques to assess statistics and metrics related to transportation management issues and concerns, and conducts functional reviews to validate compliance with policies and regulations.
• Provides expert analysis and advice on program issues related to Government-owned transportation assets.
