Position Overview

This National Guard position is for a SECURITY SPECIALIST (PROTECTION) -Title 32, Position Description Number D2617000 and is part of the Joint Forces Headquarters - J3 Domestic Operations, Wisconsin Army National Guard.

Duties

As a SECURITY SPECIALIST (PROTECTION) -Title 32, GS-0080-11, you will serve as the ARNG Protection Specialist for functional elements and related physical and operations security policy and issues, handling of intelligence and law enforcement sensitive information, managing assigned program areas, directing studies and reviewing, revising and implementing protection policy and budget projects. This position is located within the Joint Force Headquarters (JFHQ), J3 Domestic Operations Directorate.

Qualifications & Requirements

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience, education or training which involves the exercise of analytical ability, judgment, discretion, and personal responsibility, and application of a substantial body of knowledge of principles, concepts and practices applicable to one or more fields of administration or management. Experience using computer and automation systems.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: To qualify for the GS-0080-11 position, you must have at least 12 months of experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level. Experience, education or training in collecting and analyzing data effectively, efficiently, and accurately. Able to apply procedures and directives by reading and interpreting technical material. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively orally and in writing, using presentation and report formats. Demonstrated ability to follow directions, to read, understand, and retain a variety of instructions, regulations, and procedures. Learned ability to assess the surrounding environment to recognize immediate risk levels. Must have the education and validated understanding of the basic principles ad concepts of the occupational series and grade for one of the seven organizational program disciplines and its applicable Security Series career.

MILITARY REQUIREMENTS:

Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement. This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership. Military Grades: E6 through E9, WO1 through CW5 and O1 through O4

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT & NOTES:

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the required security clearance.
  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
  • Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day.
  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this positions.
  • This position may be designated mission essential based on local conditions. Mission essential personnel report for duty at normal times when the unit is closed or delayed reporting and remain on duty during phased or early release.
