Position Overview

NEH is an independent grant-making agency of the government dedicated to supporting research, education, preservation, and public programs in the humanities. NEH is the nation's largest public funder of the humanities, which include history, philosophy, literature, language, ethics, law, archaeology, political theory, comparative religion, anthropology, sociology, and media and cultural studies.

Duties

  • Assists with the collection and analysis of the required annual compliance plan and activities reporting submissions.
  • Oversees all aspects of online application processes and procedures for state humanities councils for NEH special initiatives.
  • Providing complete materials for committee books for National Council review.
  • Updates the online compliance plan and suggest improvements.
  • Performs complex tasks associated with maintaining and enhancing FSP's website and the monthly electronic newsletter.
  • Organizes, synthesizes, and analyzes this information to recognize areas of weakness or noncompliance.
  • Gathers, compiles, and analyzes a variety of financial data reflecting the activities of the state councils.
  • Prepares all FSP National Council committee books in electronic format for the NEH archives of committee books.

1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-9 level or equivalent experience.

Specialized experience is experience which is directly related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position, for example: (1) Performing qualitative and quantitative techniques for analyzing and measuring the effectiveness, efficiency, and productivity of nonprofit humanities organizations; (2) Providing guidance to state humanities organizations regarding the development of grant applications and fulfilling reporting requirements using online procedures; (3) Performing detailed compilation and analysis of financial data to inform oversight and management of humanities organizations; (4) Facilitating workflow processes and administering operational procedures to support the activities of the division and humanities organizations.
