Position Overview

This job opportunity is for an ELECTRONIC INTEGRATED SYSTEMS MECHANIC, position description D2325000, within the 108th AMXS of the New Jersey National Guard. This vacancy announcement is a Title 32, Excepted Service position.

The primary purpose of this position is to install, modify, overhaul, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, align, calibrate, and rebuild multi-system avionics complexes.

Duties

As an ELECTRONIC INTEGRATED SYSTEMS MECHANIC, WG-2610-12, you will:

  • Performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on one or more multi-complex electronic integrated systems
  • Reviews and analyzes maintenance data; determines if criteria are sufficient to provide adequate test, troubleshooting and repair procedures; devises and recommends tests, procedural changes, or data corrections.
  • Troubleshoot operational malfunctions and analyze system performance utilizing aircrew debrief data, Technical Orders, schematic and wiring diagrams.
  • Recommend methods to improve equipment performance, technical data, and maintenance procedures
  • Apply technical data and equipment specifications to determine the impact that equipment modifications or substitutions will have upon integrated multi-system operations and various maintenance alignment procedures.
  • May upload/download chaff/flare dispensers.
  • May be required to perform additional duties such as structural fire-fighting, aircraft fire/crash/rescue duty, serve as a security guard, remove snow, load and handle munitions, launch/recover and service aircraft, operate heavy equipment, maintain facilities and equipment, or serve as a member of a team to cope with natural disasters or civil emergencies.
  • Available technical data may refer to specific portions of the complete integrated system. Work is subject to quality control checks prior to and upon task completion for acceptability and adherence to instructions and established standards.
  • Shop supervisor/Work Leader provides general technical guidance and instructions covering the scope of the task assigned. Mechanic works with additional electronics integrated systems mechanics to accomplish tasks.

Qualifications & Requirements

General Experience:
Experience or training which demonstrates the applicants knowledge of electronic theories and practices to identify, isolate and repair malfunctions in one or more complex integrated systems where knowledge of the entire system is necessary to interpret error data and trace back through a number of units of the system to locate deficiencies. Thorough knowledge of principles of digital and analog circuits, electro-mechanical devices, solid state devices, digital techniques, synchro/servo operation and integrated circuit theory. Ability to interpret and trace schematics, logic and wiring diagrams and use a wide variety of test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment (TMDE).

Specialized Experience:
At least 18 months of experience or training in utilizing principles, basic functions and application of theory of electronic integrated systems equipment. Experience in diagnosing problems and determining needed repairs for malfunctions in electronic integrated systems equipment. Experience in making mechanical repairs that required the use of precision measuring and calibrating equipment. Experience in using a wide variety of test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment (TMDE). Experience which demonstrates the ability to interpret technical manuals, specifications, and publications.

Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement. This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership.
