Position Overview
About the Position: Position is under the directorate of Installation Services Public Works Division Roads and Grounds Branch.Duties
- Construct, alter, repair, or modify items and structures such as framework, rafters, doors, finished paneling, windows, rough furniture, interior and exterior trim, trusses, and beams.
- Install lintels and arches.
- Perform routine and emergency services on door locks, vehicle locks, cargo doors, windows, and padlocks.
- Check the condition of foundations, walks, flooring, roofs, doors, windows, guttering, roof joists and rafters, concrete walls, and block walls.
- Return orders filled out with problems corrected or material required to be ordered.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an MAINTENANCE WORKER without more than normal supervision. 1) Performing major and minor maintenance and repair of buildings, grounds, and interior and exterior structures related to building maintenance, 2) Repairing work involving trades such as plumbing, painting, carpentry, roofing, asphalt work, masonry, locksmith, and related work, and 3) Performing routine and emergency services on door locks. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

PHYSICAL EFFORT
The incumbent is required to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb, and occasionally work in uncomfortable positions for short periods of time. Frequently lifts, carries, and set up material that weighs up to 45 lbs.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is done inside and outside with occasional exposure to inclement weather and the usual climate extremes. Subject to noisy, dusty, dirty, greasy, wet and slippery conditions, and vibration caused by power tool/equipment operation. There are the common dangers inherent in power tool operation such as cuts and bruises, and exposure to electrical shocks and burns. Exposed to solvents and other toxic chemical compounds. Must wear appropriate safety gear, equipment, and protective clothing such as: hard hat, mask, goggles, gloves, respirator, ear plugs, etc. as required.
Conditions of Employment
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation NACI (T1).
- Position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- Position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
- Position requires you to obtain and maintain a Powder Actuated Devise license.
- Position requires you to obtain and maintain an Asbestos and Lead Paint Certification.
- 10% business travel.
