Position Overview
This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Domestic Defense Industrial Base (DIB) & Major Range & Test Facilities Base (MRTFB) in DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.About the Position: The Anniston Army Depot is located in Anniston, Alabama in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountain chain halfway between Atlanta, GA and Birmingham, AL off Interstate 20. The Depot is the largest employer in Calhoun County.
Duties
- Provide technical support to customers who need advice, assistance, and training in applying hardware and software systems.
- Provide requirement analysis, design, implementation, deployment, documentation and maintenance of various applications.
- Develop the strategy for optimal use of server software, to include VMWARE, Microsoft Windows Server, Unix, Linux, SQL and Oracle
- Apply Information Assurance (IA) policies, principles and practices in the delivery of IT services

Basic Requirement for IT Specialist (Systems Administration):
Specialized and Other Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: Perform the maintenance of server files, databases, applications and other related software. Monitor and analyze system performance and correct deficiencies. Experience in Information Technology security principles and methods to configure, purchase and install new equipment. Provide technical support to customers who need advice, assistance and training regarding server issues. Extensive and current knowledge working with IT requirements in and industrial environment. Demonstrates skills in applying patches, Security Technical Implementation Guides ( STIGS), Information Assurance Vulnerability Alert (IAVAs), and upgrades to IT Army servers/Appliances. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

Conditions of Employment
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires that the incumbent is able to obtain and maintain Secret clearance.
- DoD 8570 Baseline Certification Level I, II, or III complete at time of hire or within 6 months.
- This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
- DoD 8570 Computing Environment training complete at time of hire or within 6 months.
