Position Overview
This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.About the Position: Hawaii has many outdoor activities all year-round including surfing, fishing, and hiking.
Duties
- Serve as the expert and resident technical specialist in Landscape Architect, Project Engineer, and Arborist for the Directorate of Public Works (DPW), United States Army Garrison-Hawaii (USAG-HI).
- Provide highly technical professional advice and consultant services concerning land management, landscape planning, environmental beautification, agronomy, urban forestry management, soil stabilization and erosion management.
- Provide highly technical professional advice and consultant services concerning grounds maintenance policies, planning, design, and preservation of scenic, historic, and aesthetic resources.
- Perform as a Project Engineer for Military Construction (MILCON), Restoration and Modernization and Sustainment, Repair and Maintenance (SRM) projects.

Basic Requirement for Landscape Architect:
A bachelor's degree or higher in Landscape Architecture or landscape design.
OR
A combination of education and experience -- for each year short of graduation, the applicant must have had 1 year of experience under professional leadership and guidance of such character and diversity as to be a satisfactory substitute for the required education. This experience must have included original landscape design.
AND
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. One year specialized experience equivalent to the grade level GS-11 grade level which duties include 1) performing technical reviews of designs, plans, and/or project specifications; 2) providing landscape architect subject matter expertise advice/guidance; 3) providing project management in the areas of landscape design, contracting, solicitation, and/or inspection. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service GS-11.
Education
FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university. - Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.

- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time
- This position requires the incumbent to be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- This position requires incumbent to obtain and maintain certification as a Certified Arborist within 3 years.
