Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes assessing patients nutritional status to provide nutritional care and collaborating with registered dietitians to generate diet instructions. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). OR Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as Dietetics. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages.

Position Overview

About the Position: This position is located at General Leonard Wood Community Hospital in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation. Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service.

Duties

  • Assess patient need for supplemental feedings based on medical condition anddiet tolerance.
  • Record screening data, nutrition assessments and plans education provided to patient, as well as recommendations in patients' charts.
  • Perform bulk nourishment quality assurance (QA) checks and monitors ward refrigerators for appropriate stocking and compliance and reports results to supervisory dietitian.
  • Monitor patient eating problems and discusses them with nursing personnel to gain insight.
  • Collaborate with other health care team providers (doctors, nurses, paraprofessionals, etc.) to ensure accuracy and timeliness of nutritional care provided.
