Position Overview

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Domestic Defense Industrial Base Facilities and Major Range and Test Facilities Base, NDAA 1125 (a) and (c).


About the Position: Serve as an Electronic Measurement Equipment Worker at Letterkenny Munitions Center. Maintain, test, and repair missile assemblies and electronic equipment. Assist senior technicians with complex systems, and operate test equipment.

Duties

  • Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of low-complexity electronic components, missile guidance systems, control systems, and launcher rails.
  • Operate both computerized/automated and manual test equipment to diagnose and isolate faults in various missile systems (e.g., Sidewinder, Sparrow, HARM, AMRAAM, and MLRS).
  • Assist higher-graded mechanics with complex overhauls, installations, and system alignments at both the component and complete missile assembly levels.
  • Fabricate and repair cables, cable harnesses, and circuit cards using specialized shop equipment, soldering tools, and wiring layout diagrams.
  • Execute diagnostic test routines using technical manuals, schematics, block diagrams, and engineering work instructions to isolate defective components.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Electronic Measurement Equipment Worker ~ without more than normal supervision include removing and replacing defective electronic components, modules or assemblies using electronic test equipment and tools. Following wiring diagrams, schematics or diagrams to test equipment and perform maintenance, trouble shooting, and repair. Work under supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.
- Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
  • Work involves standing and bending in sometimes awkward positions, occasional climbing and benchwork (sitting) for prolonged periods. Usually handles items from 10 to 40 pounds, but items may occasionally exceed 40 pounds.
  • Work is usually done inside in well lighted, heated, and ventilated areas but sometimes works outside
    in various weather conditions. However, may be required to work in adverse conditions in emergency
    situations. Incumbent is exposed to burns, electrical shock, and the possibility of cuts, bruises, and
    burns.

Conditions of Employment

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must undergo physical examination and receive favorable results prior to appointment and annually thereafter.
  • This is a drug testing designated position (TDP) under the Department of the Army Drug-Free Federal Workplace Program in accordance with AR 600-85.
  • This position is covered under the 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968.
  • Required to meet ammunition certification requirements IAW AMC-R 350-4 within one year of employment.
  • Required to obtain and maintain solder certification and IPC 620 certification.
  • TDY travel required.
  • This position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 11.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
