Basic Requirements for Health Technician (Orthopedic): Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing duties in an orthopedic clinic such as preparing for procedures; applying various splints and casting; and maintaining orthopedic equipment. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). OR Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as Anatomy, Biology, or Orthopedic Surgery. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages.

Position Overview

About the Position: Serve as a Health Technician (Orthopedic) in a Medical Treatment Facility. The purpose of the position is to provide inpatient and outpatient orthopedic care to military personnel and their dependents. This position is located WINN Army Medical Facility in Ft. Stewart, GA. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation

Duties

  • Prepare patients for examinations, minor procedures or clinical treatments by disrobing, draping and positioning patient in exam room.
  • Assist physicians with instruments, injections, dressings, medications, diagnostic studies, and biological specimens.
  • Clean treatment areas in between patients, ensuring that supplies and instruments/equipment are available, and properly functioning.
  • Maintain medical and administrative supplies.
  • Dispose of contaminated supplies and equipment.
