Specialized Experience GS-7: One year of specialized experience which includes protecting property against such hazards as: fire, theft, damage, accidents and/or trespassing. Coordinating communications during emergency situations, writing and reviewing incident reports; and controlling access to restricted areas. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone -- no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Position Overview

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: Serves as a Lead Security Guard assigned under the authority of the Senior Commander at IMCOM supported installations. This position functions as the first layer of defense in a security-in-depth concept to deter, detect, delay, assess, respond, and document unauthorized access.

Duties

• Serves as a Shift Leader who is an assistant to the Guard Shift Supervisor. Makes daily assignments to ensure that guard coverage is provided to assigned patrol areas.
• Independently performs installation access control for pedestrians and vehicles utilizing standard operating procedures, written orders and regulatory requirement as a guide to access determination for a wide range of unique circumstances.
• Performs Visitor Control Center (VCC) duties. Incumbent is responsible for performing and resolving a full range of both standard procedural and non-recurring/unusual visitor access assignments.
• Serves as a member of the installation’s overall security response capability during actual or simulated incidents.
• Implements the installation closure plan securing ACPs at heightened FPCONs, emergencies or disasters and then becomes a part of the installation response capability.
